BOY SCOUT SUNDAY:  Mark your calendars for February 12, 2012 for Boy Scout Sunday. The service begins at 10:30.  Scouts should wear full class A uniform. All scouts and their families are encouraged to attend.  The church provides a great facility and grounds for our troop to meet at and has strongly supported our troop for many years, please attend to show your appreciation and thanks to Pleasant Hills United Methodist Church.

PHILMONTERS:  Those scouts going to Philmont, we will be having a preparation meeting in February to discuss details of the trip.  Please keep Memorial Day Weekend, May 25-28 reserved for our Philmont training hike.  Details will be discussed at the upcoming Philmont information meeting.

VENTURES (AND FUTURE VENTURES):  The troop will be having a meeting for all those scouts seventh grade and up who are interested in going on a high adventure trip during the summers of 2013 and 2014.  I would like to have a meeting to discuss what options are available and what the scouts are interested in doing.  No date has been set for this meeting yet, but a parent must be present with their son in order to attend.  Information will be disseminated mainly through email, please read all emails from me.  If you haven’t bee receiving emails read the note below.

STAYING CONNECTED:  I have been sending out updates on many scouting activities by email, if you are not receiving any emails from me, please send me an email to the address at the top of this newsletter with your contact information.

POLAR BEARS:  Congratulations to the 11 scouts who survived the polar bear backpacking trip and awoke to the overnight low of -4ºF!  A big thanks to the adults who helped as well.

WINTER WEATHER:  Troop meetings will not be canceled due to inclement weather.  It is up to each family to decide if the weather is too bad to attend the meeting.  Likewise, no camps will be canceled due to the winter weather.
